Exile Exhibition at Haus Kunst Mitte

In the exhibition “RUPTURES: Artists in Berlin Exile,” Haus Kunst Mitte presents paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, installations, and films by fifteen artists living in exile in Berlin.
In the framework of this exhibition, Stiftung Exilmuseum was invited to design a room. In this space, we illuminate the subject of “waiting” on the way into exile and in exile using large-format quotations of authors in exile then and now. The room thus explores the approach that we will also be pursuing at Exilmuseum: making the common components of the experience of exile across history palpable. The room design takes up the motif of “waiting” with the help of barrier tapes and provisional seating in a subtle way. Posters and a film also provide information on the plans for Exilmuseum.

The exhibition will open on Friday, March 1 at 7 pm and will be on view until June 2, Wednesday to Sunday from 12 to 6 pm at Haus Kunst Mitte, Heidestraße 54. Admission costs 8 Euro (reduced 5 Euro, free admission under 18).
