Days of Exile: Opening

Stiftung Exilmuseum Berlin and the Körber-Stiftung bring the Days of Exile to Berlin for the first time. Initiated by the Körber-Stiftung, this series of events and encounters has been held in Hamburg since 2016.

Over forty Berlin organizations and cultural institutions will participate, exploring the subject of exile for four weeks with exhibitions, readings, concerts, performances, film screenings, and many other event formats.

The Long Night of Exile
September 8, 2023, start: 6 pm

Free admission, doors open at 5:30 pm, timely attendance is highly recommended.

8:10 – Prize Ceremony, Exile Visual Arts Award

8:30 – Poetry and Prose from Contemporary Exile
With Umar Abdel Nasser, Kholoud Charaf, and Zhenia Berezhna, fellows of the Writers-in-Exile-Program, PEN Centre Germany

9:15 – Intermission

9:30 – Work in Progress: The Planned Exilmuseum Berlin
With Cornelia Vossen, artistic director, Exilmuseum

9:45 – News from Exile: Texts on Art and Exile from the Archives of the Akademie der Künste, 1933–1945
With Bibiana Beglau and Peter Jordan
