Exhibition Opening: ZU/FLUCHT

On June 12, the Exilmuseum Berlin will be opening an outdoor exhibition at its future location, Anhalter Bahnhof.

ZU/FLUCHT is an outdoors exhibition on the path leading to the Exilmuseum, which will be built in the next few years at Anhalter Bahnhof. The exhibition presents the future museum and its focus of interest. It deals not only with the fate of
refugees back then, but like the Exilmuseum it also spans a bridge to the present.

For this purpose, six former temporary refugee housing units were remodeled especially by TU Berlin students. The result is a unique environment that encourages visitors to engage with the topic of exile, both in terms of content and architecture.

ZU/FLUCHT invites you to learn more about the future Exilmuseum and the projects of our collaboration partners and to actively participate in the museum’s development by way of workshops and events.

The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Institut für Architektur, TU Berlin. Over two semesters, students of the Natural Building Lab engaged in analyzing the units’ material, use, and possibilities for repurposing them. In addition, the Habitat Unit also presents its research on the life of refugees in these units. Additional exhibition content on the subject of “Exile Today” was created in a collaboration of the Stiftung Exilmuseum with the We Refugees Archive, Minor Projektkontor für Bildung und Forschung.

On opening day, the Exilmuseum team and students from Berlin’s TU will be on site from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to guide you through the exhibition and to answer any questions you might have.

We look forward to your visit!
