Jonas Reise - Reading and Hands-On Tour

Jonas Reise – An Adventure through Space and Time

Book presentation and hands-on tour for children and adults
with writer Peter von Becker, Ulrich Matthes and Susana AbdulMajid

In his first novel intended for both children and adults, writer and journalist Peter von Becker tells of a threatened childhood and the sudden horror of a flight from home, but also of the preciousness of friendship, love, and the luck to find a place in a crazy world. Peter von Becker speaks with Stefanie Ericke from Junges Literaturshaus about how his contact with actress and writer Susana AbdulMajid, whose family is from Mossul, inspired him to write this book, and why the subjects of flight, exile, migration are becoming ever more important today. And how do children see these issues?

Award winning actor Ulrich Matthes recorded the audiobook and will read from the book in alternation with Susana AbdulMajid and Peter von Becker; projected book illustrations by the artist Stella Dreis and several videos with interviews will be shown as well.

After a short snack, we invite guests young and old to Werkstatt Museum for a hands-on tour on the subject of exile based on the novel.
