What does it really mean to flee from Iraq to Germany? In 2001, at the age of 17, Delschad Numan Khorschid left his family and his Kurdish home. His journey would take almost two years—alone, penniless, and several times close to death. Today, he is a successful actor at the Residenztheater in Munich, as well as an author and photographer.
In his book Nowhere Is My Home (Schillo Verlag, 2025), he artistically reflects on and processes his experiences. He weaves together poems, prose, and photographs into a powerful narrative about flight, loss, hope, and belonging.
At Exilmuseum, Delschad Numan Khorschid will present his book for the first time in Berlin. He will talk about his story and his exile in Germany, and what writing means to someone who, as a Kurd, was not allowed to attend school. He will read from his book and, in his uniquely open manner, answer all your questions.
