International Children's Day

September 20th is International Children's Day! As part of the 'Children in Exile' exhibition, we are celebrating it with a full day program:

Morning: Workshops for registered school classes
2 pm – 7 pm: Open for everybody

Always available:
ALFABET
Everyone can join in and create a large mosaic together! Using watercolor paper and gouache paints, you create colored squares with colorful letters from many languages and place them in the mosaic. Perhaps some words will emerge, maybe even a verse based on Bertolt Brecht's poem Alfabet, which he wrote for children in exile.
A project by visual artist Kristiane Petersmann and stage designer Moritz Nitsche

Start every 30 minutes
THE DIFFERENT ORCHESTRA - sound art for young and older guests
You will create sounds with unusual instruments - from wah-wah tubes and thunder drums to a quirky pencil piano. The result is a live sound design for short cartoons from different countries. You'll see: With cartoons and sounds you can communicate without a common language, discover other countries and new worlds and understand them better.
A project by the composer Benjamin Scheuer

3 pm and 4:30 pm
FAMILY TOURS
with exile researcher and exhibition curator Gesine Bey and Marion Neumann, head of the education program KUNSTWELTEN of the Akademie der Künste
